The scent

Much of the "sandalwood oil" sold online isn't true Indian sandalwood. It's often Australian sandalwood, diluted with carrier oils, or synthetic. This is the real thing, and the lab results prove it.

What makes real sandalwood special is santalol, the natural compound behind its creamy, long-lasting scent. The more santalol, the richer the oil. This batch tested at an impressive 73% total santalol.

How does that compare? A published study of 31 sandalwood oils sold as Indian sandalwood (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, 2004) found that only about half met the international quality standard. This oil meets that standard and the study's stricter recommended benchmark, and its santalol content is higher than most of the oils tested.
